Accelerating Canada’s community investment movement
Weave is a $30 million fund pooling institutional and accredited investors’ capital to invest in community bonds across Canada.
Charities, nonprofits and coops across Canada are issuing community bonds, offering over $120 million to date in investment opportunities directly to their supporters.
But because of relatively small raise sizes, community bonds have primarily been accessed by retail investors rather than institutional and accredited investors — until Weave.
The benefits
Diversifies investment
An investment in Weave is spread among community bonds offered by more than two dozen issuers across Canada.
Reaches underfunded communities
Community bonds could benefit organizations in rural, remote, equity-deserving, and other communities without population density or wealth to support an entirely retail-subscribed campaign. Through Weave, institutional capital brings projects to life and offers communities wealth-building investment opportunities.
Streamlines impact
Weave handles due diligence with community bond issuers, so investors can have widespread impact without costly due diligence on each project.
Encourages more retail impact investment
Weave crowds in retail investment, by making early ‘anchor’ investments in community bond campaigns bringing attention to the project and inspiring trust.
